Before you buy

Two things to know before you buy. First, the good news on power: this model is hardwired at 100-240V, 50/60Hz, so unlike most US security kit the hardware itself runs correctly on Ghana's 230V/50Hz mains. It needs a neutral wire and a weatherproof 4-inch round electrical box, and it should be installed by a qualified electrician. Second, the app: Blink publishes an explicit region-locking policy — "Blink devices are designed to be operated only in certain countries" — and lists North America, the EU and UK, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand as its supported markets. No African country appears on that list, so we cannot promise the Blink app will let you register an account from Ghana. The same fitting as the white model, finished in black so it disappears against a dark eave or a painted wall. It is a security light and a camera in one: two independently aimable heads put out 1,300 lumens each — 2,600 lumens together at 5000K — and because the light is floodlight-assisted the camera sees in full colour at night rather than grey infrared. A 105dB siren is built in and can be set off from the app. Motion detection covers a 143° view, two-way audio lets you challenge someone from your phone, and with a Blink plan you can hold a live view open for up to 90 minutes at a time. Clips store locally on a USB drive via a Sync Module 2, or in the cloud on a plan. It is a hardwired fitting, not a battery unit — it needs a neutral wire and a weatherproof 4-inch round electrical box, and it accepts 100-240V at 50 or 60Hz, so it runs correctly on Ghanaian mains without a transformer.
